Real-time gain regulation is calculated by the <span class=\"emph\">AlaControl <\/span>and <span class=\"emph\">CompanderALA<\/span> objects and gain is applied using the <span class=\"emph\">ALAgain<\/span> object. It considers these input variables:<\/p>\n<p class=\"actions text\">Input signal perceptual level<\/p>\n<p class=\"actions text\">Current speed<\/p>\n<p class=\"actions text\">Current entertainment volume setting<\/p>\n<p class=\"text actions\">Tuned LUT&#8217;s which condition the control input signals<\/p>\n<p class=\"actions text\">Current signal-to-noise in the cabin as computed by the <span class=\"emph\">NoiseEst<\/span> object<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text\">The ALA section of the project operates in the following way:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text actions\">The <span class=\"emph\">Merger<\/span> object passes a combined (mono) signal to the <span class=\"emph\">CompanderALA<\/span> object<\/p>\n<p class=\"text actions\">The signal is band-passed first by the <span class=\"emph\">BiquadsPreFilter<\/span> object<\/p>\n<p class=\"text actions\">The <span class=\"emph\">CompanderALA<\/span> object computes a final gain value to send to the <span class=\"emph\">ALAgain<\/span> object, based on current signal level plus input from the <span class=\"emph\">AlaControl<\/span> object<\/p>\n<p class=\"text actions\">The <span class=\"emph\">NoiseEst<\/span> object generates a measure of signal-to-noise ratio using a cabin microphone signal compared with current entertainment audio<\/p>\n<p class=\"text actions\">The <span class=\"emph\">AlaControl<\/span> object receives control signals from the LUT&#8217;s and <span class=\"emph\">NoiseEst<\/span> and regulates the <span class=\"emph\">CompanderALA<\/span> object accordingly<\/p>\n<p class=\"text actions\">The <span class=\"emph\">ALAgain<\/span> object applies the final gain value to the input signal<\/p>\n<p class=\"text actions\">The <span class=\"emph\">CompanderLevel<\/span> object is a level monitor which allows the user to monitor the ALA gain<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ALA section of the project attempts to automatically regulate the subjective loudness level of the input to a tuned, consistent level using a single gain stage and several input variables.
