Here, we take a device with 2 physical cores, one having 2 virtual cores and the other having 1 virtual core, and add the Bass Management in the second xAF instance highlighted in the below figure:

Importing and Adding the Panel to Gallery for Editing

Import the Bass Management CAO in the toolbox pane in the signal flow designer and drag and drop the CAO onto the SFD.

Click on the added CAO and select “Add Instance Custom Panel to Gallery for Edit” in the right pane.

Creating Set Groups for the Bass Management and Sub-bass sections

To map the parameters correctly to the toggle switches for the Bass Management and Sub-bass stages in the custom panel,

Go to the Parameter-Sets tab and add a set group as shown below (rename the set group to be able to easily identify it),

Double-click on the Set Group to select it and, drag-drop the Sub-bass related objects from the venue to the right pane.

We will be creating 2 sets for the sub-bass set group (one for Sub-bass On and the other for Sub-bass Off) and loading the .setr files supplied along with the Bass Management CAO in the respective sets. Since the CAO is project specific, the BAOs in the SFD may not bear the same block IDs, HiQNet addresses and the display names as in the .setr files. Hence, we must replace them with the values with corresponding to the SFD in this project before loading them. Let us take the example of the Sub-bass On set.

With the set group created for Sub-bass in focus, click on “New” in the top panel. A new set should appear in the right pane showing all the tuning parameter values,

Rename the set by double clicking it and typing “Sub-bass On”. This will be the name that will finally appear in the custom panel.

Click on the “Save .setr file” check box to enable it,

Right click on “Sub-bass On” and click the “Save Set File” option to save it as the reference .setr file. This file will contain the correct block IDs, HiQNet addresses and displays names of the objects in the SFD,

Open the file named “SetGroupSubBass_SetSubBass_ON.setr” on a text editor and replace only the lines beginning with the following text with the corresponding lines from reference .setr file and save the file:

<Procesing_Block

<Property Name=”DisplayName”

<Property Name=”BlockID”

<Property Name=”HiQnetID”

Now, in the Parameter Sets tab in GTT, right click on the set column corresponding to “Sub-bass On”, click on “load set file” and load the edited “SetGroupSubBass_SetSubBass_ON.setr” file,

Using the same reference file, do the same for “Sub-bass Off” (set group filename: “SetGroupSubBass_SetSubBass_OFF.setr”)

Do the above steps for Bass On and Bass Off as well, on a separate set group. Note that the BAOs here would correspond to the bass section and will need a new reference .setr file for the block IDs, HiQNet addresses and display names. (Set group filenames: “SetGroupBass_SetBass_ON.setr”, “SetGroupBass_SetBass_OFF.setr”)

Mapping Tuning Parameters to UI Objects in the Custom Panel

Go to the Panel Designer tab and do the following:

Click on each UI object and map them to the correct tuning parameters in the SFD as shown in the example for the Bass Management Gain below.

Drag and drop the set group corresponding to Bass Management and Sub-bass to the boxes as shown below and click on “ok” in the dialog box to enable the mapping.

Finalizing Changes and Applying the Panel to the CAO

In the Signal Flow Designer of GTT, select the Bass Management CAO and in the right panel, click on the “Is Custom Panel” checkbox.

From the available custom panels, select the edited Bass Management panel.

Finally, click on “Apply Custom Panel to Toolbox Type”.

This CAO has a few extra steps as a workaround for integration in a new project with a different device type since there is currently no way to turn on or off the Bass Management and Sub-bass sections independently.
