Introduction<\/p>\n

A Compound Audio Object (CAO) packages a project with complex signal flow into a single audio object, with clearly defined I\/O pins. A custom panel created for the CAO provides user with integrated control interface. The following is a CAO created for Individual Sound Zones (ISZ) as a reference project.<\/p>\n

Individual Sound Zones (ISZ) is a technology that realizes separated sound zones in a car. It enables passengers to enjoy different audio content without disturbing their co-drivers\u2019 listening experience. Its signal flow processes highly calibrated filters which realizes cross talk cancellation in low and mid frequencies, and utilizes the passive speaker directivity (headrest and headliner speakers) in high frequencies.<\/p>\n

Control Input<\/h2>\n

There are 6 control inputs exposed to the end user. They are<\/p>\n

  3. Zone 1 Volume<\/li>\n
  4. Zone 2 Volume<\/li>\n
  5. Zone 3 Volume<\/li>\n

    Audio Input<\/h2>\n

    The ISZ CAO has 4 input pins, for the 4 different mono audio inputs, so that each zone always has 4 different sources to choose from.<\/p>\n

    Audio Output<\/h2>\n

    The ISZ CAO has 24 output pins, corresponding to the 24 speaker channels in this reference ISZ system.<\/p>\n

    Main Panel<\/p>\n

    On the main panel, there are 2 sections: the tuner control section and the user control section.<\/p>\n

    Tuner Control:<\/h2>\n

    ISZ Filters:<\/strong> this button opens the native panel of FIRMIMO, where tuner can load their ISZ filters.<\/p>\n

    Source Balancing:<\/strong> this button opens the gain panel for the 4 inputs. Tuner is supposed to manually adjust the gains for 4 different source materials for the purpose of level matching in a demo setting. This corresponds to the “Source Gain” AO in the SF.<\/p>\n

    Speaker Channel Gain:<\/strong> this button is not tunable<\/strong>. Tuner needs to copy the channel gain setting from the measurement session in order to keep the system consistency.<\/p>\n

    Speaker Channel Crossover:<\/strong> this button is not tunable<\/strong>. Tuner needs to copy the channel crossover setting from the measurement session in order to keep the system consistency.<\/p>\n

    User Control:<\/h2>\n

    Master switch and volume:<\/strong> an on\/off button provides the overall system switch. A volume dial is available to control all zone volumes. This corresponds to the “Source Gain” AO’s in the SF.<\/p>\n

    Zone volume control:<\/strong> each zone has its own volume slider for the user to adjust the respective zone volume. This corresponds to the “Zone Gain” AO’s in the SF.<\/p>\n

    Zone source selection:<\/strong> each zone has 4 radio buttons to toggle. So the user can select the source for the respective zone, without affecting selections of users in other zones.
